As a member of Grants Pass Fire Rescue, you have an opportunity to join an exciting, dynamic agency!
We are recruiting to establish a hiring list.
Firefighters respond to and assist with mitigation of all hazard incidents both emergent and non-emergent. Perform basic or advanced emergency medical care and rescue depending on EMT certification level. Maintain documentation relative to patient incident and treatment. Perform as trained, following agency guidelines, making appropriate decisions, and communicating effectively in stressful situations and may include other related duties.
Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in emergency services or a job related field are required with formal education and/or specialized training preferred.
Valid driver's license, with the ability to attain a Class C Oregon Driver's License within 30 days of employment.
The following are required:
- Valid State of Oregon Emergency Medical Technician License or higher
- NFPA Firefighter I
Residency: Employees must live within 45 minutes of the Hillcrest, Parkway or Redwood Fire Stations as calculated by department policy.
Testing dates are scheduled as follows;
Written exam: National Testing Network
Assessment Center/Interviews planned for: January, 2024
In addition to base salary, monthly incentives available to Firefighters after completion of the trial service period:
- Associate's Degree: $75
- Bachelor's Degree: $150
- Fluency in approved Second Language (after meeting City guidelines): $50
- EMT-Advanced : 2%
- EMT-Intermediate: 3%
- EMT-Paramedic: 5%
(Note: Associate's and Bachelor's Degree incentives as well as EMT incentives are not cumulative.)
