GRANTS PASS, Oregon – Two new dual-port electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in Grants Pass.
The City has installed dual port, Blink electric vehicle charging stations at the Welcome Center and the Duck Lot on the corner of G and 7th Street.
This project was made possible with support from Pacific Power, which granted the City $50,000 to help advance the City’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The City put out a Request for Proposal for companies to install two turnkey, Type II, dual electric chargers. There were three responsive bids, and the City awarded the contract to GoSpace. They have been in the electric vehicle charging space for 13 years and a nationwide leader in building electric vehicle infrastructure.
At each location, downtown customers will be able to access two Blink electric vehicle charging stations, featuring a multi-colored digital display, convenient cable management design, and intuitive charging holsters. Downtown customers with electric vehicles can park in the designated spaces and charge while they shop. A GoSpace charging station can deliver up to 60 miles of range per hour.
“We are thrilled to partner with Pacific Power and GoSpace to offer the downtown customers the benefit of electric vehicle charging,” said Jason Canady, Public Works Director. “Providing this convenience increases Grants Pass’ access to electric vehicle infrastructure, a small step towards a more sustainable community.”
A ribbon cutting will be held at the Welcome Center on March 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM for the public to attend.
