GRANTS PASS – The City of Grants Pass Committee on Public Art has announced the expansion of this year’s Art Along The Rogue to include additional art forms, art-making demonstrations, and free interactive art activity booths for children. Art Along The Rogue will be held Oct.1-3 along H Street, between 4th and 6th streets.
A selection of mostly local featured artists have already been selected to create chalk and paint images on the street during the weekend event. Additional space is available for those who wish to try their hand at street painting or demonstrate their artistic ability.

In addition to street painting and chalk artists, event organizers are seeking artists in a variety of other art mediums, including oil and watercolor artists, sculptors, potters, jewelry makers, mixed media artists, musicians and more to demonstrate their art-making during the event and work in conjunction with planned interactive art activities designed to introduce young people to various art forms.
“The goal of the committee is to open up the event to artists of all types while exposing young people to the artistic process of the artists and providing hands-on activities for young people to experience their own art-making,” said Information Coordinator Steven Sabel.
Sabel is the city staff member serving as liaison to the Art Along The Rogue planning committee.
Interactive art stations will include jewelry-making, plein air painting, and clay sculpting. The free activities will be staffed by volunteers from the Josephine County Youth Foundation. All materials and supplies will be provided by CoPA.
Attendees will also be able to purchase a 2’ x 2’ square and some chalk to attempt their own street art for the traditional $5 fee. Coordinators are also planning an Instrument Petting Zoo booth where children can explore various musical instruments, learn how they work, and attempt to make their own music.
Performance art groups are also encouraged to reach out to the committee with their ideas of how to feature artforms such as spoken word poetry, dance, and theatrical performances.
