GRANTS PASS – The City of Grants Pass Parks Department encourages local residents to provide comment to the Oregon State Marine Board regarding a pending grant application the city has submitted for funds to rehabilitate the launch ramp, parking and access roadway facilities at Baker Park.
“Baker Park is a critical and free access point to the Rogue River and is the only public boat launch in the city,” said Parks Superintendent Wendy Giordano.
The City of Grants Pass is one of 25 agencies seeking funding for projects through the Oregon Boating Facility and Waterway Access Grant cycle of 2021-23. The city’s grant request is for $150,000 to complete the project.
“These necessary improvements were already identified and in the planning stages. Securing this grant will allow us to complete this project and then use our other available funds to make additional improvements to the park in the next phase,” said Giordano.
The grant application is currently in the review and evaluation phase. During this phase OSMB staff also receive public comments regarding the various grant proposals. Public comments will be reviewed and shared with the board prior to their meeting to decide which grants to approve.
Comments in support of the Baker Park grant can be sent directly vie email to: jennifer.peterson@oregon.gov. Comments should reference grant application #1688 Baker Park. The deadline to submit comments in support of the grant is April 15.
“The purpose of this project is to ensure safe and continued use and enjoyment of the Baker Park boating facility,” Giordano said.
