Join the Community Development Team as a Building Inspector/Plans Examiner. This position is responsible for performing residential and commercial plans examination work and building inspection work in the areas of residential, commercial or fire/life safety.
The position, based upon assignment will be performing:
- Plan review.
- Explanation of codes to the public and members of the development/building community.
- Building inspection of commercial, multi-family and single-family residential construction and improvements based on compliance with plans, standards, specifications, codes and regulations.
- Respond to inquiries and provide information to other City departments, contractors, developers, property owners, and the general public.
- Review of residential construction drawings and blueprints to determine conformance with codes, necessary corrections and applicable permit fees.
Minimum Job Requirements: A high school diploma and two years of construction supervision experience or completion of a two year State approved training program are required; based upon assignment, technical training in construction supervision may be required or preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Certifications: ICC Plans Examiner, ICC Fire Plan Examiner, ICC Residential Building Inspector, ICC Residential Mechanical Inspector, Oregon Inspector Certification, Oregon Commercial Building Inspector, Oregon Commercial Mechanical Inspector, Oregon Electrical Inspector, Oregon Plumbing Inspector.
This position will require you to obtain identified certifications within 6 months from the date of hire, if qualifying certifications are not already obtained.
