GRANTS PASS – Applications are now being accepted for positions on several City of Grants Pass advisory committees, including the Collaborative Economic Development Committee (CEDC), Parks Advisory Committee, Urban Area Planning Commission, and Bikeways & Walkways Committee.
There is one position opening on the Collaborative Economic Development Committee (CEDC) due to an expiring term. These are three-year appointments to an advisory committee to the City of Grants Pass and Josephine County and will be responsible for the implementation of the joint Economic Development Strategic Plan adopted by the Grants Pass City Council and Josephine County Board of Commissioners. This position is a member at large. All members of the CEDC must be at least 18 years of age and reside within the boundaries of Josephine County. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Monday, July 13. Applications will be reviewed by the committee Thursday, July 16. Appointments will be made at the City of Grants Pass council meeting Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Applications are being accepted for two positions on the Parks Advisory Committee due to expiring terms. These are three-year appointments to review and make recommendations related to the needs and locations for new parkland and trail locations, park planning, allocation of recreation resources between users, preservation of park resources, and funding.
The city desires to have a balance of viewpoints and demographic representation including individuals with interest or experience representing athletic leagues, individuals knowledgeable in natural resource preservation, people involved with recurring park events, frequent park users, and individuals who use park family play-friendly facilities.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Monday, July 6, and will be reviewed by the committee Thursday, July 9. Appointments will be made at the council meeting Wednesday, Aug. 5.
There is one position opening on the Urban Area Planning Commission (UAPC) due to a resignation. The term expires Dec. 1, 2022. All city appointments to the UAPC shall be required to have their principal residence within city limits or the Urban Growth Boundary.
The purpose of this commission is to review and render a decision on all Type III Land Use Applications, including Zone Changes, subdivisions, Planned Unit Developments, and Major Variances, and to function as an appellate body on appeals from Type I and Type II decisions of city staff.
The UAPC also reviews and recommends to the council action on all Type IV Land Use requests, including Comprehensive Plan amendments and Development Code Text amendments. In accord with the growth management philosophies of the governing boards, the commission will investigate, review, analyze and recommend necessary changes in growth management policies or physical capacities to meet the needs for the lands within the Urban Growth Boundary.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2. Applications will be reviewed by the commission Wednesday, July 8. Applicants will be interviewed by the city council at their workshop on Monday, July 13. Appointments will be made at the council meeting Wednesday, July 15.
Applications are being accepted for one position on the Grants Pass and Josephine County Bikeways & Walkways Committee due to an expiring term. City terms are three-years.
The purpose of this committee is to implement the Non-Motorized Chapter of the Master Transportation Plan, seek input from the community, coordinate and disseminate information for public education about biking and walking routes and rules, and serve as a resource and advisory group regarding bike and pedestrian trails for the city and county. Applicants for this position must be city residents.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Friday, July 10. Applications will be reviewed by the committee Tuesday, July 14. Appointments will be made at the council meeting Wednesday, Aug. 5.
