Grants Pass Firewise Garden

Firewise GardenThe Grants Pass Firewise Garden is located at the west side of the Hillcrest Public Safety Station at 199 NW Hillcrest Drive and is always open to the community. The purpose of the Firewise Garden is to display fire resistant plants to use for landscaping around homes in place of fire prone plants to create a beautiful landscape. Over 90% of homes that are lost to wildfire activity are the result of fire embers. Fire resistant landscaping plays a big role in maintaining a home's protection from wildfire embers.

Garden Areas

The Firewise Garden provides a visual display of fire-resistant plantings used in different landscaping situations. Interpretative signs guide you through each of the 5 areas. Each area displays a different theme including fire resistant plantings for full sun, partial sun, low water usage, and privacy screening. There is also a section (area 1) displaying fire prone plants that are not recommended for use close to the home.
