The Streets Division maintains a system of storm drains and drainage ditches that carry runoff to the Rogue River. Streets crews remove debris from catch basins, clear vegetation from ditches, clear blocked drains during thunderstorms and heavy rains, and repair storm drains that have failed.
Portions of Grants Pass adjacent to the Rogue River and Gilbert Creek lay in a 100-year floodplain. To protect the drainage system, city ordinance prohibits the dumping of materials into waterways and requires construction of buildings and fences to be at least 20 feet from the top of a creek bank.
To report dumping, a blocked creek or an illegal development, please call 541-450-6110, or call the Water Master at 541-261-2213.
