The Budget Officer and Finance Director coordinate the combined effort of the city staff in the preparation of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. In conjunction with the city’s Budget Committee, a budget is approved and sent to the City Council for adoption in June of each year. The fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.
The City of Grants Pass has won the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 36 years, the latest award being given for the FY 2021 budget. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, an operations guide, a financial plan, and a communication device. The award is valid for a period of 1 year only.
