COMMENTS A fast growing tree, the Honey Locust is a tough tree for harsh urban sites. Very hardy against drought and heat. Seedless cultivars are a must, and thornless cultivars are preferred. Both are readily available from commercial nurseries. Approved cultivars include 'Moraine,' 'Shademaster,' 'Skyline,' and 'True Shade.' 'Street Keeper,' may be a good option for narrow spaces. 'Skyline' is often considered the best cultivar for street trees since it forms a central leader.
