COMMENTS Large sprays of fragrant white-yellow flowers appear in late spring to early summer. Exfoliating bark extends seasonal interest. Tolerant of clay, loam, sand, acidic, and slightly alkaline soils. Moderately drought tolerant and prefers well-drained soils. 'Ivory Silk' is the most commonly planted and celebrated cultivar, though many others exist with various form habits. Features: flowers, unique bark. Full sun to partial shade. Approved cultivars include 'Beijing Gold,' 'China Snow,' and 'Great Wall'.
