COMMENTS Striking fall color is yellow, orange, and red. Not only highly tolerant of hot, dry summers once established, but prefers them. As such, do not allow soils to become soggy. Try to obtain the 'Western Son, Pair's Choice' for our streets. Avoid 'Pearl Street,' which has not shown much success in Oregon. Can only be in parking lots if there are overhead high voltage power lines. Arbor Day Foundation: "Used by Xeriscape (dry landscaping) gardeners as a critical addition for wildlife. The seeds provide food for small rodents and birds while the flowers provide food for insects... The Chinese pistache grows in acidic, alkaline, loamy, moist, sandy, silty loam, well-drained and clay soils. It also grows well in drought conditions." Features: fall color. Full sun.
