COMMENTS Tolerant of drought, clay soil, and air pollution. Chinese elm has good resistance to Dutch elm disease. It also has good resistance to Japanese beetle and elm leaf beetle. Occasional disease problems include wilts, rots, cankers and leaf spots. Branches tend to break when stressed with snow, ice or wind. Tolerance of virtually any soil; only restriction is permanently wet soil. Plant in full sun. Tolerant of both heat and drought once established. Features: fall color, disease resistance. Full sun. Wet soil tolerant.
