The City has a number of programs aimed at aiding local businesses and attracting new businesses to the area. The City specifically targets manufacturing, wholesale distribution, regional service centers and high-tech companies in the 10 to 300 employee range.
Some of the services and programs offered by the City:
Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) - The program focuses on aiding existing local businesses, accomplished with the goals of keeping local firms in business and in the community, increasing their competitiveness and helping them grow and expand. In 2001, Grants Pass was the only United States community to win the "Outstanding Community BR&E Program" award from BREI, an international association of business retention and expansion programs around the world.
- Grants Pass Area Enterprise Zone - This state-administered property tax abatement program was formed in 1997 and is designed to lower up-front costs associated with business expansion or new development.
- Small Business Technical Assistance Program - Through an innovative partnership between the City of Grants Pass, Rogue Community College and the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership (OMEP), the City can provide financial assistance to qualified OMEP clients to defray some of the critical consulting services provided by OMEP to local small manufacturing firms. For more information on the program, contact John Lopez at RCC at (541) 956-7119, send an Email or visit the OMEP website.
