What does this mean?
Be prepared for: local emergencies, national security emergencies

The City of Grants Pass is served by a Department of Public Safety rather than by traditional police and fire departments. Police officers and firefighters are trained to perform some of the duties relative to both divisions.

Fire Truck (Public Safety)We have found that by utilizing our staff in dual roles we are able to assign more people to major incidents quickly in such a manner that we can free up the specialist in a particular field of endeavor to focus on their primary duty while being supported by their co-workers from their opposite division.

By combining the strengths of fire and police, we provide an exceptionally high quality of service to our City at substantially lower cost even as our city constantly expands.
