Parks
The community enjoys facilities in twenty-one city parks and green spaces including two recreation sites, the Caveman Pool and the Grants Pass Skatepark. City parks provide facilities for picnicking, walking, fishing, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, disc golf, horseshoes, skateboarding, baseball and pool swimming.
In addition to City parks and greenspaces, the community also has access to an additional eighteen parks in Josephine County along the Rogue River which offer an array of fishing, floating, boating, swimming and hiking. For more information about Josephine County Parks, go to the Josephine County Parks website, or call 541-474-5285.
Events are held at City parks throughout the year. Park shelters are available both by reservation and on a first come, first serve basis for family picnics, weddings, and club meetings.
In keeping with the City Council’s goal of providing “outstanding park facilities throughout the community,” we continue to acquire land for future parks and are currently building new park facilities at the Redwood Park located two blocks south of Redwood Avenue on Dowell Road.

Recreation Programs
The Grants Pass Recreation Program facilitates opportunities for citizens to participate in recreation as a life-enriching element of our community. The program provides all park and recreation field and facility scheduling and works with local school districts to maximize school recreation facility use. This service also reserves shelters, coordinates use of fields and courts by leagues and community groups, and reserves banner space over 6th and 7th Streets and at Riverside Park.
The Grants Pass Recreation Program provides a central location where members of the community can obtain information about activities available for their family. The quarterly Recreation Guide includes an extensive list of Community Recreation Providers including information regarding local sports leagues, clinics and clubs. Go to the Recreation Programs and Contacts page for the current Recreation Guide and Provider's list.
While the Grants Pass Recreation Program provides a limited activity agenda of its own this department works with other providers to insure access for our community to a wide variety of programs for people of all ages.
