The City of Grants Pass and Caveman Color is proud to announce the 22nd annual Paint Your Heart Out Program. Paint Your Heart Out is modeled after a successful program from Boise, Idaho. The City began Paint Your Heart Out in 1988 with the painting of 5 homes. Over the past 22 years we have painted 260 homes.
Painting is available to homeowners with limited incomes who are senior citizens or disabled individuals and who live in the City of Grants Pass or Urban Growth Boundary. The maximum annual household income for a single individual is $21,730. Many of the applicant’s annual incomes range between $9,000 - $16,000.
Volunteers who support this program come from businesses and community organizations which provide the labor to paint these homes. Each team is asked to provide as much painting equipment as possible, including scrapers, wire brushes, paint brushes, rollers, pans and ladders, that they already have at home. We rely on businesses to donate equipment and materials, such as power washers and paint sprayers.
A picnic at the end of paint day is our way of thanking the volunteers for all their hard work. We also invite the homeowners and their families to celebrate our volunteer’s efforts.
This community service greatly impacts the lives of senior citizens and disabled individuals and has a tremendous impact on neighborhoods. Community outreach is essential to the success of this program. Help us “Spread Community Pride from House to House” by encouraging those who may benefit from this program to contact the City for an application.
