Volunteers

Posted on July 28, 2016 at 9:06 AM by Jo Woerner

We could not have the great community we enjoy without the active participation from our volunteers. Volunteers are essential to the success of the City of Grants Pass and we count on them to help guide our City. We have always been sustained and strengthened by the willingness of our residents to work for the common good and plan for the future. The hours and input our volunteers have given are greatly appreciated.

The Mayor hosted the 2nd Annual Mayor’s Volunteer dinner on July 14, 2016. He acknowledged the selfless commitment and efforts of those who volunteer on City committees, commissions, boards and taskforces.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to James Lowe, Volunteer Group of the Year Award was presented to the Josephine Community Libraries, Inc., Samantha McLean was chosen for the Mayor’s Future Citizen of the Year Scholarship Award and the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety Auxiliary received the Legacy Award.

Mayor's Future Citizen of the Year Scholarship Program

Posted on July 28, 2016 at 9:03 AM by Jo Woerner

This program is designed to recognize, honor and encourage community contributions and excellence in the young people of Grants Pass. Students are judged on the following initiatives:
  • community,
  • leadership,
  • academic
  • career.
High school seniors are invited to participate in this program. Although considered, academics are secondary to the student’s involvement in serving the Grants Pass community. The City knows there are several ways in which youth are involved in improving both themselves and the City of Grants Pass. The Future Citizen will be acknowledged with the award of a $500 scholarship
