Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE)

In addition to individual agencies investigating crimes involving drug use, manufacture, and possession, local agencies have formed an interagency team comprised of representatives from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Oregon State Police, Josephine County District Attorney’s Office, and Josephine County Community Corrections (Adult Parole and Probation). Each agency provides support to the team through the provisions of personnel, equipment, financial support, and/or facilities.

Team Funding


The team is funded through financial support of the member agencies and federal grant monies. The grant monies provide for training, specialized equipment, safety equipment, overtime for those detectives assigned to drug investigations, and some clerical case management.

RADE is partially funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance. The funding is provided through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. In 2008 / 2009 the amount received was $84,062. In 2009 / 2010 the amount received was $97,929.  In 2010 / 2012 the amount awarded was $105,776.00 annually. Grants Pass Public Safety is one of only 15 Law Enforcement Agencies in Oregon to receive this grant for this 2 year grant period.

The federal grant funding ended in September 2012 but the program will remain in operation.
