Travel, Tourism and Downtown

Travel, Tourism and Downtown services are provided by the City through a contract with Experience Grants Pass. Experience Grants Pass
works with the Tourism Advisory Committee, the City, the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses to focus on promoting the City as a tourist destination in Southern Oregon.

The Travel Grants Pass website offers a wide variety of things to do while visiting our area.

Funding for tourism programs comes from the Transient Room Tax (TRT). Visitors and those who stay in local lodging establishments pay a room tax. The City uses the tax to pay for:
  • Tourism Services (30%)
  • Public Safety (15.56%)
  • Parks Maintenance (15.56%)

Program Services

  • Economic Development (11.67%)
  • Downtown Development (11.67%)
  • Lands and Building (LB) Capital Projects (15.56%)
  • Promoting travel and tourism in Grants Pass 
  • Operation of the Downtown Welcome Center 
  • Trade and media coverage promoting the City’s leisure, business and recreational offerings 
  • Promotion and public relations for activities and special events held in Grants Pass 
  • Organization and direction of community events (e.g. Art Along the Rogue) 

  • Management and maintenance of the City’s tourism website and other social media sources 
  • Promoting the downtown (i.e. First Friday Live) 
  • Developing and maintaining communications with industry partners like hotels, restaurants, key attractions, etc. 
  • Developing marketing campaigns attracting visitors, encouraging return visits and expanding and diversifying our visitor base
